I recently had a similar experience. A section mate bought a 2341 and I had a chance to play it a bit. My first impression was that it was wildly different than my PT-1. We then took turns playing each horn while the other stood across the concert hall. It turns out that the sound was not that much different to me (except under the bell). My friend expressed it this way, "with the PT-1 I could tell where you were located with my eyes closed, with the 2341 it was harder to pinpoint". So much for impirical tests. NWD
