I think this is debatable. Rather, it may only be for a case by case basis. I believe some people should think for themselves, and others should be told what to think sometimes (not all the time). For example, I would not want to be a restaurant manager who, having just hired someone new and unexperienced, let him think for his/herself. I myself am a follower. I'd prefer to help out in a situation in anyway I can rather than lead it. That's just me though. I think for myself, but sometimes, for a greater good, I follow. Maybe it's just the drum corps in me :) And I'd also hate to see an orchestra play what they felt and thought was correct (different interpretations) in a song instead of what the conductor said to play, you know?

But then again, This is about tuba lessons (playing), not McDonald's or Podunk Symphony Orchestra--Please, correct me if I'm wrong.

Josh
