As I studied with Mr. Jacobs, I found myself pushing in further and further to tune. Finally, I took my horn to the then-current hot, brass repairman. When I told him I wanted the main tuning slide cut he told me that it had been a regular occurance with Jacob's students.

It, however, has nothing to do with slowing down the airstream, that only makes you play softer.

It does have to do with relaxing the enbouchure to acheive effeciency. Long story.

This sounds like a sharp horn.
