Brian found out about the opening some time after Ted Cox was terminated. He had no idea what the situation was. He was informed of the opening by his graduate professor at University of New Mexico, Karl Hinterbichler.
And he got it.
Great job, Brian. I'm awed and jealous and proud of you at the same time.
Brian has been playing in Xalapa, Mexico for the past year while the other tubist has been on sabbatical to study with Roger Bobo. He got that job soon after graduating UNM.
They are lucky to have him.
