I own two Rudy's, a 4/4 CC and 5/4 F, and they both play wonderfully well. The only learning curve was how to approach the lower registers of the F. Once I determined that everything fell into place. Both horns have a fantastic sound that blends with each situation and they are very easy to play.

I also played the rotary 4345 when Lee got it last year. I felt that it was better than the piston version because it played more evenly throughout the registers. When I say even, I mean as one plays the horn there were no major adjustments in air stream or embouchure placement in order for some notes to respond better than others. Also, the lower registers responded quite differently, as the piston horn would tend to be stuffier around low G and the rotor version was more open. Best thing to do is take a trip to Brasswind and play them side by side.
