Steve, I recently purchased a silver B&S tuba and I know where you're coming from. I considered using gloves to play, but initially didn't want to be "teased" by my ruthless tuba counterparts. However, after playing the thing for several months, I'm coming to the realization that playing without them is way too much work! I am constantly wiping the instrument down and polishing it. That may not be so bad on a euphonium, but my tuba seems to get larger every time I have to polish it!!! So, I believe I will be making a glove purchase very soon. No, you're not alone!!!
