I've played them both. Ive OWNED the Mirafone 181-6U gold brass. GREAT sounding horn. BAAAD low notes, compared to the newer piston-valved f's. NOTHING will ever sound like an Alexander, but any of the modern piston F's are good. I have a preferrence for the Yamahas; I have an 882 & a 641. I like the piston Hirsbrunners also. But to answer your question, both the instruments about which you inquire are about the same. Play them both and buy the one YOU like best, making sure they have good pitch and the low C & B speak ok.
