About a year ago, I started playing again after an extended (4-year) lay-off. Now that my chops are coming back nicely, I realize that the horn I bought is not the right horn for me. (It's a Cerveny CC piggy) I'm looking for a horn that will handle the demands of a full band, and also some quintet work. I also want to go back to my roots as a BBb player. I'm also considering an MFA in performance in a year or two. The Miraphone S-186 5V BBb seems like the best choice from what I've seen. ($4695 from WW & BW) However, I would like some input from others, especially if you have played on one of these horns. Information on alternative horns is very welcome. The price range is under $5500. I would consider another used horn if I could play it for a month or so. (I'm not the quickest judge of a horn's personality.) Thanks!
