I'll second Mike's opinion on the 181. The latest 5-1 combination, like all modern 181s, has a larger bore on an average sized horn which guarantees clarity and a clear tone in all registers. The newest model in yellow brass is very crisp and clears especially in the higher register (think Bydlo/Symph Fantastique). Alternatively, the gold brass 181 has a somewhat darker sound.
