May I add, something Mr. Jacobs emphasized with all his students, and certainly with me when I was having a very bad time with double buzzing, the importance of the very full "O" vowel for tuba players. He would write in the etude book "tHO" to clarify the importance of the aspirate H for the relaxed air stream that Chuck referred to, and the full, round O, which naturally creates a large space for the airstream to flow, and begun with a clear, but not overemphasized articulation.

I worked with a trombone player who had that problem. At one performance, after a particularly juicy one, the contractor/1st trumpet turned around and asked him, "D'you bring your brother along with you tonight?" That cured him.
