For what it's worth, I play in a brass band and a community concert band. I have played for many years (not professional) and have been playing a 6/4 BBb 4 valve Conn. It is very old, about 1911 and very heavy. I recently purchased a new Mirafone 191. I think I am finally in tuba heaven. The horn plays very well in all registers and delivers a big sound. The is considered to be a 4/4 horn and I believe it is an excellent all around horn. I tried many at Woodwind Brasswind in South Bend and found this to be the best for me. Good luck. Jerry
