I use a big doug elliot mouthpiece on BBb tuba. When I found a CC Cervany Stubby a few years ago I found the same problem and solved it by using a slightly smaller mouthpiece. It's really not surprising that a smaller tuba wants a smaller mouthpiece. One millimeter makes all the difference in the world.
