Yes, the mouthpiece is a very important component of your sound, but I would also suggest making sure the notes are centered perfectly. There is only a whole step difference between BBb and CC horns, and this requires a very slight but significant change in your embouchure to get the notes right on the money. What I'm trying to say is when you play your open tuning note C (in the staff) make sure your lips aren't still trying to play the Bb right next to it. (does that make sense?)

Try this exercise in your middle register: Nice long tones (six or eight slow counts) to center the pitch, followed by six or eight staccato quarter notes (mezzo forte) and make sure the sound on the short notes matches the sound on the longer ones.
