If you are certain that most of the music you will be playing is in the sharp keys then the CC tuba fingerings will be a bit less awkward, on the average. But the low register on a CC tuba is always rougher than it is on a comparable model in BBb. Most orchestra literature does not involve fast fingering. Rather it is usually long tones with long rests. Some guys say you can get around better on a CC tuba, but then they get one with huge rotary valves that really don't move fast at all, and they struggle to learn five-valve fingering. It takes a lot of work to become as fluent as you already are on a BBb tuba. The only reason for playing CC I ever read that sort of made sense was this: Somebody wrote that CC tubas came into use years ago to match the intonation quirks of the C trumpets. But I still haven't seen any trombones or french horns in C.
