Actually, it was a deep and resonant voice. Outside of a basso I knew from Covent Garden Opera it was the best placed voice I ever heard.
The only recording on the Jacobs's CD that is of broadcast quality was recorded in the 50's. Be dissappointed in the recording quality. The rest of the speaking cuts were poorly done, but at least they were made so that you can hear WHAT he had to say.
Regardless, if you want to be impressed, try understanding the psycho-muscular motor stimuli from the 7th cranial region and explain it with the same clarity he did.
