Thanks, James, for your concise and knowlegeable answer to my query. You'll be glad to know it's"tuba players,one and bone players,nothing". My buddy said his assortment of bass bone mouthpieces would all sound the same on various tubas if he could shank 'em correctly. I opted for a variety of sounds, and both you and Mary Ann have pretty much substantiated my claim. (He also said any good bass trombone could replace the tuba in any major work...but I don't need to dignify THAT "bone-headed" statement... Thanks again for your insight!
