"LA Sax" is Pete LaPlaca in the Chicagoland area - Barrington, I believe. In the distant past, I used to buy some really decent flutes and saxes from him. I quit when I discovered how to buy the flutes straight from the manufacturer when he substituted a so-so Taiwanese sax for the formerly excellent Taiwanese sax that he had been selling. (I found another U.S. source for that excellent sax that he stopped importing.)
I have no idea what kind of tuba products Pete has gotten into, but my experience in the past (several years ago) was that he went for price over quality.
Again, HE owns that "LA Sax" name, and I'm sure stamps it on products that he imports. You might be able to make arrangements to go to Barrington and try out his product. If you do, give us a report!
