I just finished listening to a recording of Steven Mead performing the Vladimir Cosma Euphonium Concerto on his latest CD "World of the Euphonium Volume 4". I must say, I was flat out blown away. I've met him, heard him play thousands of times, heard him play live, attended master classes....you name it. He never ceases to amaze me. This recording is quite possibly the best euphonium solo recording I've ever heard. My favorite piece before hearing this was the Philip Wilby Euphonium Concerto. I also have a recording of Steve playing that. That too blows me away. This just blew that out of the water! I now have a new favorite piece, and I'm going to go to a practice room right now and beat my head in a wall wondering how Mead does it!!!!! Great recording. I reccommend this recording to any and every musician out there. It is the best recording of a concerto I've ever heard! And the Cantabile by Paganini is also a great piece also recorded on this CD. Buy it!
