I am in a situation very similar to the one you are describing. I too have a school A and a school B, and my entire family is against school A, but I loved the teaching of the professor but the music school is not totally world class (from what I've heard). The other, school B, is a world class music school, with a world class tubist, but I didn't feel a "connection" with him in lessons. DOn't second guess yourself, college isn't about the professor, it's about you. You will get out of university exactly what you put into it, I have steadily taken from a french hornist and oboist and organist and I feel that I learn just as much form them as my tuba instructor, just one is more geared to tuba, so, in conclusion, play the tuba, learn, have fun, and work hard wherever you go and you'll go far.
