I love my BERP. The primary benefit of having it next to the leadpipe/receiver is that one can play a passage on the BERP, then immediately play it again on the instrument. With the old system, you had a little more fumbling around, taking the BERP out, and then putting the MP into the receiver. With the newer model, you can switch back and forth very quickly and easily. This is a great practice system, forcing you to actually buzz the proper pitch into the mouthpiece, instead of letting the instrument assist you by forcing the notes into the proper "slot." My only complaint is that the mouthpiece sticks out further in the BERP than when in the receiver, resulting in a slightly different playing position. Ideally, the mouthpiece would be as close to the same position as when it is in the instrument. My $0.02.
