The mention of the 24AW rings a bell, but when I was playing in college in the late 60's (Conn 25J), I think I played a 24AW that was stamped "Conn." Did Conn ever make one? I remember it as being more funnel shaped than having a deep bowl.

I'm thinking of one of the Conn Hellbergs, probably the 7B because it's said to produce a somewhat brighter sound than the other one and because the 186 is reputed to have a "German" sound that is somewhat darker than the American horns. Well, what do I know? I'll probably just have to get my self playing to see.

As for my son, the easier the better in terms of mpc.
