She should have no problem playing the bass trumpet. The mouthpiece is pretty close to the same size - but with the tenor sized shank. It will sound brighter in tone quality than what she's used to. It will seem heavier since the weight is out front of the player... as opposed to being close to the body.
Good luck finding one. I've seen a few on ebay but haven't looked lately.
