Didn't someone recently post that they did the normal "sturdy boxing" thing, and then strapped the tuba-in-box onto a standard shipping pallet and delivered the 100# monstrosity to Fed Ex Freight? If the fork-lift operator doesn't run a fork thru the side of the box, it should be pretty safe. You don't just "toss" a pallet-ized tuba around for fun!
