Man I feel your pain, it took some time to work up. Like Alex said, figure out the beat patterns and subdivisions. I would play it exteremely slow and subdivide down to the sixteenth note until you get the feel. Then gradually speed it up. Take your time. As far as getting info on the piece. I believe this piece was commissioned by the band and only people in the Marine Band would know anything about it. Guys in the band, correct me if I am wrong. There was an article about the piece in a band jouranl a while back. I think it was CBDNA. Hope this helps.
