I have played a Willson euphonium (the large bore top-action one) with a 1G. It certainly gave a very tuba-like sound. However, I had to switch to a different mouthpiece using that horn because it was impossible to keep the pitch up. It seemed like almost every note was flat to the point beyond which it could be corrected just by lipping. The A at the top of the staff was especially flat. So while you'd probably get the sound that one would expect from a tenor tuba/bariton/whatever, you would have to work really hard at the intonation, possibly even cutting some slides.
