Thanks. That also confirms a notion that I've had ever since putting a Wick 1 tuba mouthpiece in my Besson euphonium. It didn't sound good, and it was 30 cents flat, but it sounded like a tuba instead of a euphonium. I think that's the key, but it takes a horn that can work with the large mouthpiece, intonation wise, to make it work. That seems to be what Alexander intended.

I seem to recall from Doug's literature that Tony Clements has a Doug Elliott mouthpiece with a tuba rim and shallow cup mated to a euphonium backbore for use on a euphonium. Maybe Tony can comment here.
