If you can find a time to practice with another tubist, playing duets would not only help you with sightreading, it will help with balance, blend and intonation. There is a good book by David Hickman (no relation, although I do have a brother David) called "Music Speedreading". It is a generic book for all instruments. You may also consider checking out as many tuba parts (especially the standards) from a local music library and reading those. Certainly, you can improve your ability to read by exposing yourself to large amounts of music. A strong knowledge of scales and rhythm patterns will help. You can try a book called "101 Rhythmic/Rest Patterns." Musically, Daryl
