Nice pictures. I've never played one of these, but it looks a whole lot like the 6J BBb Junior Bass available in the early 1930's. All of the small BBb basses in the 1920's catalog of which I have a photocopy show tuning slides in the leadpipe.
In junior high school in 1959, I played a 26J [old style number pre-short action] 3 valve top action 'BBb Monster Bass' which was a pretty decent playing horn as I recall.
