I have an old York BBb helicon that was one of those high- low-pitch setups (slides engraved with the low-pitch positions and two different main slides). Problem was that the low-pitch slide was nothing more than the standard high-pitch job with an extra "switchback" attached and played at A435, which was too flat. I solved the problem by removing the "switchback" and simply extending the legs and outer tubes of the slide. Works fine and looks original.
