With the holiday season rolling around and my birthday just a week away, I'm looking for a camcorder to record myself practicing. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. I'm trying to spend as little as I need to (under $600 if possible) to come away with something I can use. Assume the only thing I need is something that can stand on a tripod and record my face and more importantly the sound coming out of the bell. I'm playing tuba, so range may be a factor with the microphone. I do have an external mic that I could attach if needed.
