the Mirafone 184 & 185 are even smaller than the 186. Unfortunately they are not made anymore. I have seen some pretty good used ones for sale in the last couple of years. The first tuba I owned (way back in school & beginning of college) was a 185. It could do just about anything except play in the orchestra. The valve action was great, too. Check around to see if anyone has one that you can try.
