Is this a REALLY good instrument? One that you really love to play?

Boy, if it is, I'd get the night sweats about some tech buffing my 6/4 monster. Accidents do happen in the shop and wrestling a big tuba around a buffer is not my idea of an error-free environment. Of course, the shop carries insurance, but their responsibility probably ends with repairing any damange they might produce and/or paying you for the depreciated value of your instrument.

And then there's the packing and shipping from the plater's and back. What if you're not happy with the job?

You could end up with a fabulous looking instrument, but you could also lose the use of the one you have.

Why not leave the dents in if they're not too bad? On the other hand, if you're sort of indifferent about your tuba, whattheheck, why not tart it up?
