Basically you need to come up with a plan that will allow you to practice as much as you can without hurting yourself.
I find that practicing works best for me if I go in one-hour sessions with at least a half hour in between. I'll try and do, an hour or two in the afternoon, and two hours (seperated by a break to do some homework) in the evening. This strategy works pretty well for me, although if I didn't have so many commitments I would practice *much* more.

You can make a career out of music doing lots of things, but if you want to be an orchestral tuba player, the consensus is that *you aren't practising enough*. I tell myself that no matter how hard I practice, someone else is practicing harder and I have to stay in sight of him until he gets discouraged and quits :)
Good luck!

Ted
