Solfege is what singers use to indicate scale degrees, and for ease of sightreading.

The syllables are, chromatically ascending, Do, Di/Ra, Re, Ri/Me, Mi, Fa, Fi/Se, Sol, Si/Le, La, Li/Te, Ti, Do. The ones with just one name are the major scale degrees, the two-namers are accidentals, the first being the raised version and the second the lowered version (in C major, Ri/Me would be D#/Eb, respectively). Most often, you'll see Do moved around to fit the key signature (In C major, C, in Ab Major, Ab, etc.), but occasionally you may be asked to sing as if Do is always C, which is pretty difficult (for me anyway).

If I'm totally off here, someone please chime in. Hope I could help! =^)
