I also played at few hundred gigs with the "Arlington Chamber Players" and I always tried to sound as good as I could on sousaphone as well. I always figured if I could get a good sound on that sucker it could be doing nothing but good things for me when I picked up my Hirsbrunner. I do have to say that one of my first gigs, I learned to watch for low branches the hard way. Now, those are bad for your chops!
