Several years ago at the University of North Texas, there was a fantastic tuba player in the wind symphony named Elise Roberts, who also was quite beautiful. She was assigned to play the Stravinsky. To alleviate the mute problem, there was a gentleman who sat right next to her throughout the entire concert. About half a minute before THE SPOT, he stood up, prepped the mute, and at the appropriate moment, inserted the mute. It was quiet, and also quite a sight, a Mute Assistant!
