I tried one of these once and was horrified below the 2nd harmonic Eb (one ledger line below the staff). But from that starting point on up it had a lovely, bright sound.
So -- DEPENDING on what you want to do with it, it might work well (see Jay's comments below) or it might be very disappointing. I wanted a good quintet horn. That's not the right choice for that group, IMO.
