I used to own a 642 and currently own an 842. I've found that the SM3 works great with the Yamaha's. Balances well, intonation is perfect, and really darkens up the sound as Yamaha's can tend to be a bit bright if you let them. The Schilke 52E2 works well also. I've also got a student who plays the 642 and likes the BB1 combination with it. I really think overall BY FAR the SM3 is the best mouthpiece on the market PERIOD. If your chops and air can handle it, go with the SM3. It'll be the last mouthpiece you ever buy!
