I am certainly guilty of trying out several mouthpieces to get the right feel and sound. However, once I find one that works I don't switch often. After several trials I found that the Mike Finn 3 is the right mouthpiece for the sound that I want. I had to try several types of mouthpieces, just like I try on more than one pair of slacks before choosing a pair to buy. I guess this mouthpiece is not quite "exotica" because it cost right around $100 bucks, not $200 or more for a monette, etc.

In contrast, for my F tuba I use a cheap Yamaha 67B4. It was the first mouthpiece I tried and it provided me with the sound I wanted. I think it cost like $35-$40 bucks.
