It took me my entire first semester of college to get it straight. But I'm not so bright when it comes to stuff like that. Some of my students have taken to it much quicker. Patience is the key word.
One thing I did was to grab some of the music that I knew well on BBb, and as quick as possible, write in the CC fingerings. Kind of a quiz for yourself. Then you can go back and double check your answers if you're into that.
One final word, learn and love the Eb major scale finger pattern on your CC quickly! If you hated or ignored Db major fingerings on your BBb, then guess what!! That was a particular pattern I found to be helpful from the beginning...Eb major pops up often and you don't want to look like a putz for not being able to play in Eb!!
(Of course you want all your scale patterns to be easy)
