Hey, no harm no foul! I figured it was my unclear text that led to your question, not an overabundance of foul. ;-)

It never occurred to me to even pursue a cimbasso until the last few years. I heard a couple of performances that used them and my personal situation allowed me to consider the possibility. Remember that a sizeable amount of my playing is done in an opera pit. In addition, the FPO is planning several concert productions of operas in the future. This, combined with the annual opera excerpt-type concerts that we do assures that the horn will get used. Of course, there are also the other types of things that could call for it, like the Gabrieli discussion. Overall, in a town like Miami, there is a lot to be said for making yourself marketable in many ways to help maximize your income. Enough said?

My opinion for what it's worth...
