One of the players in one of the community bands I play in uses a Dr. Young as his primary mouthpiece. He seems to have no problem with it, but the one time I tried I had no control at all with it.

The older Conn 2 (or 1, 3, or 4) tuba mouthpieces looked like oversized French Horn mouthpieces. I understand that the Conn 2 had the same interior profile as the Helleberg 7B, but with a wider rim. It seems to me that the Helleberg is French Horn like, bu the interior taper doesn't continue down into the throat as much as a French horn mouthpiece does. The Dr. Young is closer.

The real question is why? It seems to me that there are plenty of tuba mouthpieces to choose from. Just find one and play.
