No, it's not a bad thing. It's just simply there will be more examples of the 2145 to tryout to find THE one that's the best. You might only find a couple Getzen's to play and decide. Any respectable repair shop can fix any tuba.
I'm glad to see that he's taking lessons. Take his teacher's advise before purchasing a $6K+ investment.
