...................special concert this weekend (November 7 and 8 at
8pm) featuring Mozart's well-loved "Eine kleine Nachtmusik," Gabrieli's "Canzon
a 12" and Bruckner's Symphony No. 7 in E Major. Conductor William Henry Curry
says he has waited 27 years to conduct this great symphony and only when he
heard the music in his head while recently visiting an old Baroque church in
Italy did he feel he was ready. An unusual feature of this concert will be four
Wagnerian tubas, an instrument developed by Wagner for his Ring cycle. "The
sound, "Curry says, "is a combination of the tuba and the trombone and will
sound particularly striking in Meymandi Hall."
