Hi all,
I just came from a recital at the UMich School of Music by DZ. He split the program on tuba and euph and sounded equally at home on each. Beautiful sound, phrasing and ensemble with the accompanist was present though out (BTW, the accompanist is just wonderful. It's tough to find a player with his kind of sensibility and sensitivity). Sitting and listening to Dave play, it struck me that it was like taking a lesson. Dave is a musician that happens to be a brass player. I was never distracted by the mechanics of the music being made, I only heard the music.
If you have the chance to hear DZ on his tour, don't miss it.
