After reading several opinions on this thread, and also reading Scott's deliberance in keeping us on track with his question, I would have to say that a Besson Eb is the most versatile instrument on the market. I currantly use my silver BE 982 for: Orchestra (Berlioz, Brahms, Elgar (British music), French music, pops concerts etc.), concert band, brass band, quintet, and solo work. Also being involved with Salvation Army bands for years, a Besson Eb also helps me here as well. I also own a 6/4 CC VMI 5198, but I do not use it near to the capacity of the versatile Eb.

I am also looking to sell my 982, in order to increase the versatility of the Besson Eb with a BE 983. Let me know if anyone is interested.
