We will defintely get a hard case. It is driving me CRAZY that we don't have one while it is home for "evaluation" = and only because Brasswind could not find one at the time. We did purchase a hard case for the MW2145 that we also have at home right now.

As he is a high school player and will spend lots of time dragging it back and forth to school, and by neccessity leaving it in the instrument room subject to the treatment of his fellow band members there is no other option for us either. And then of course there will be all those times it gets shoved around in the bus luggage compartment...

The school owned Yamaha contra he plays in marching band had itty bitty wheels. The wheels quickly self-destructed as the kids towed the cases back and forth between the school and the practice field - about a mile each way. My husband retrofiited our son's case with 4" wheels - he is now the envy of his section.
