Save yourself a little money, and visit the gun accessories department in the Sports Authority. Eagle Creek makes a nicely padded shotgun/rifle strap with good connecting hardware on the ends. Around $15, I believe. Also, check out the pistol cases - they make great mouthpiece pouches - and they're cheap. Hoppe's shotgun cleaning kit, with its multi-length cleaning rods and swabs is great for cleaning out long slide tubes.

BTW - I've seen tuba players get into problems playing with a strap; "stand-up" tuba changes the whole geometry of how you play (in a bad way), and way too much energy is wasted in just holding the horn in some kind of playing position. Just be aware of this.

After all, with all their shortcomings, that's what sousaphones and helicons are for - standing up and marching around.
