yes you are correct, this was a Phil Farkas thing. It came from some horn students't trying to reach high notes by trying to push the aperture closed by bunching their chins.
I've seen horn players able to reach the high range well with all kinds of facial contortions, but the good ones always seem to have a non-bunched chin. I won't describe any more than that. Anyone who has studied the various trumpet embouchures knows that there are several ways to get the "squeak" range.
