Joe,
I have a Yamaha on my bench that has been super-glued together. (The leadpipe, all brace screws, and water key screws.) And the interior of the leadpipe has had super glue lovingly applied to a thickness of three millimeters!! The one exception is the leadpipe lock-ring, which has been shellacked into place with what looks like Micro Cork and Pad Cement. (I already have this joint loose and cleaned up.)
I need some recommendations regarding solvents for super glue and the clear, blue stuff that Yamaha uses on screws at the factory. Also, I am wondering if I can replace these glues with the weakest of the Loctite formulations (blue). Some of the screws are a little loose sans glue and might back out over time, so I want to put >something on them
You know that little dingus that unscrews the lock ring on Yamaha tuba leadpipes? Can that be had through Yamaha or Ferree's or Allied? I am in need of one..
Any recommendations?
